Mountain biking in Ladakh

Biking in Ladakh is an ideal opportunity to explore and appreciate rugged mountains, stunning landscapes, captivating Buddhist monasteries and beautiful villages, all with the backdrop of the snowcapped Himalayas. Biking is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the Ladakhi culture and get a feel for how the locals live. It allows you the freedom to set your own pace and go where other transports can’t.

There is a great variety of cycling opportunities in Ladakh, ranging from daily trip to long trip. The bike trip from Leh to Manali can be done in 12-14 days. It takes 6-7 days to go from Leh to Pangong or Nubra and 8 days to go from Leh to Dha-Hanu. A very exciting day tour is to ride all the way to Khardung La pass, the world’s highest motorable road at an altitude of 5602m. Alternatively, a van takes you up there with your bike and you can just ride down to Leh 2000m below. You can also ride to ancient monasteries around Leh such as Stakna, Shey, Thiksey, Matho, Stok, Spituk...
